People of the Greater Hyderabad can now travel in posh and luxurious buses of APSRTC. The swanky, brand new buses, which are plying on the city roads, are sanctioned under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) by the central government.

The central government, under JNNURM has sanctioned a purchase of 15,260 buses for different cities in India. Of them, Andhra Pradesh is expected to receive 1,540 buses. 1,000 buses would be operated in Hyderabad and the remaining in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupathi.

According to APSRTC officials, APSRTC received 350 buses till now, and are plying in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. More 300 buses are ready to hit the roads once the vehicle registration is done.

These buses are eco-friendly, sound and environmental pollution is very less as they run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). These metro CNG buses have fast pickup, more pulling capacity, comfortable seating pattern, more leg space for sitting passengers, more space for mobility inside the bus, fashionable look and digital destination boards.

Apart from these, the entrance is much lower making it easy for the passengers to board or alight from the bus. The fare for the new metro service buses is same as that of express buses.
