The Andhra Pradesh state government has taken decision to increase the upper age limit up to 39 years from 33 years for the direct recruitment to the position of lecturers in government degree Colleges in Andhra Pradesh Collegiate Education Service, enabling the age allowance in favor of SC,ST and BC candidates.

As per the GO issued, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has issued a notification to fill 1,017 posts of Lecturers on October 13, 2009. According to Rule 6 of Andhra Pradesh Collegiate Education Service rules, a person is not eligible for appointment through direct recruitment to any post in the service if he has not completed 33 years of age as on the 1st day of July of the year in which notification for the selection is published.

Many protests have been received from the unemployed, research scholars, public representatives, as well as People’s Representatives appealing to increase the maximum age limit to 39 years just like in the recruitments of Group-I & II services and Junior Lecturers and Polytechnic College Lecturers.

After careful analysis of the complete matter, the government has increased the upper age limit up to 39 years for the posts. The normal age relaxation for applicants of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward classes will be continued over and on top of this enhancement.
