Despite of collecting the exorbitant fees, the managements of the schools are lacking in providing fire safety measures. As a part of it, 800 private schools in the city have been given notices by the district officials to start the preventive measures immediately.

This process of filtering the odd schools is done by the Hyderabad District Education Officer in coordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the director general of fire service.

The errant schools include some of the international schools which lack safety measures. But, the officials kept a poor eye on the government schools which also lack the safety measures.

In addition to the district officials notices, the GHMC officials also issued notices to the errant schools to follow fire safety norms, according to National Building Code of India (NBCI).March 31, 2011 is the deadline for the over-head sprinkler tanks and for the automatic sprinklers December 31, 2010 is the last date.

Thus, the officials even reminded the school authorities regarding loss of recognition.
