JNTU-Hyderabad has recently conducted Faculty Eligibility Test (FET) to appoint eligible candidates for lecturer posts. Less than 30 percent of the appeared candidates were able to clear the test and majority of those who could not make it were working as assistant professors in engineering colleges. Inspite of low qualifying marks – 40 percent for OCs and 30 percent for Reserved Category, only 1,500 candidates out of 5,300 could clear the exam.

Exams were held separately for 18 subjects, 120 marks each. Out of 120 marks, 40 marks were allotted to “teaching aptitudes” and the remaining 80 marks for candidates knowledge in their “specified subjects”.

Several complaints have been received by JNTU-Hyderabad for recruiting “ineligible faculty” for the affiliated engineering and medical colleges which has led to poor results every year.
