21 May 2011: As per the directions given by State government, the GHMC is taking up priority road widening works of 9.2 km on three metro rail corridors to facilitate construction works. The areas across the three lines on which the road widening works are taking place are –

Line 1 (L.B. Nagar to Miyapur): Jambagh (0.5 km), Nalgonda cross roads to market (0.3km).
Line 2 (Jubilee bus station to Falaknuma): Musheerabad to RTC cross roads (1.7km), RTC crossroads to Kachiguda cross roads (2km), Kanchiguda cross roads to Koti (0.8 km).
Line 3 (Nagole to Shilparamam): Greenlands to Ameerpet (0.9km), Sarathi studios to Yousufguda check post (1.7km), Yousufguda check post Road No.1/10 Jubilee Hills Junction via Krishna nagar and Road No. 5 Jubilee Hills (1.3 km).

The notices will be issued to the affected properties on these lines only after the final plan is made. According to the plan 50sq meters to 200sq meters of each property is required.

The officials of Metro Rail Project have said that the road widening in all these areas will be restricted to 100 ft only. Works are going smooth on the lines where there is sufficient road width like Mettuguda to Nagole, Miyapur to Ameerpet, L.B Nagar to New market.

Officials said that still rail manufacturing depots and maintenance facilities are to be built at Nagole, Falaknuma and Miyapur and then in the core city, which will speed up the construction process. Officials have planned to take up majority and important work after the monsoons and work near the sites of the school will be done in the next summer.
