9 May 2011: The HMWS&SB is planning to change the existing defunct pipelines with the new ones in the pollution prone areas. The cost of this replacement is to be borne by the customers. After the completion of the works, the customers will be levied with one time charge of Rs.2,500 for shifting water connection from old line to new one. However, the white ration card holders are exempted from the charges.

This action has taken after the water board chief has inspected water pipelines in the pollution prone areas and after receiving complaints from the residents. The leakages in two areas of new Saptagiri colony are to be mended. The residents of Lalapet, Kimti colony and Vinobha nagar have complained of low water pressure which will be corrected by replacing valves and regulating staggered water supply.

As a part of repairing of defunct pipelines, the delayed works of laying inlet pipeline to Vajpee Nagar reservoir is also speeding up. After these works are completed, 10,000 connections under Defence Colony section, which are at present getting water once in five to seven days, will get water once in three days.

Complaints are also being received from Shiva nagar in Alwal circle on getting polluted water. The officials are directed to take necessary actions to prevent water pollution.
