7 Jun 11: The Hyderabad city police has requested passport holders to check their passport details before hand, such as, expiry date, errors in names, leaves and condition of their passport, to avoid last minute rush in gaining verification certificates to secure new passports.

The police said that the request for verification of passport applications cannot be answered in two or three days due to long waiting lists. Generally, in most of the cases, the verification of passport applications will be completed within 20 days of receiving personal information forms from concerned passport offices.

Citizens can also know the police verification status of their passport by sending text messages from their mobile phone to 55352 by typing PV space and file number. Or else they can know their status through Interactive Voice Response System by dialing to same number above and follow the commands in English, Telugu or Urdu languages.

The applicants can also log on the website www.hyderabadpolice.gov.in and know the status. The applications for fresh passports can be submitted at the passport verification cell located at Saifabad traffic police station building which is near Prasad I-Max center on Necklace road.

Any complaints or issues regarding the delayed issue of passports or verification can be lodged by dialing 27852606 or send text message to mobile no. 9010100100 or can even email to passport_pvcell@appolice.gov.in.
