13 Aug 11: The President of India has announced that the Clause 14F of the Presidential Order of 1975, which states Hyderabad as a free zone should be deleted with immediate effect. With this deletion, Hyderabad is no more a free zone and from now only the candidates from the Zone VI, which consists of Ranga Reddy, Medak, Mahboobnagar, Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Nizamabad will be eligible for the ‘local’ status in Hyderabad.

The order was released by Ministry of Home Affairs after the consent of President on the day before the sub-inspectors recruitment exam, i.e., on 12th August 2011. Though the legal analysts say that since the sub-inspectors recruitment exam is planned before and is slated to be held on 13 and 14 of August, this order will have no impact on the recruitment process. But others have pointed out that after the Presidential Order issued under Section 371(B) of the Constitution, the government is supposed to cancel this exam.
