Controlled and Synthetic Drugs worth Rs.1000 Crore Seized in Hyderabad

30 Dec 11: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized over 5,500 kg of various drugs in Hyderabad which are worth Rs.1,000 crore in the international market and arrested 4 persons in this regard. As per the specific intelligence reports, that a major operation including the drug gangs from Chennai and Hyderabad is being conducted, the DRI officials have kept a track on a suspicious car at Jeedimetla, in the outskirts of the city on December 26.

96.85 Kg of ephedrine packed in gunny bags whose value was Rs.76 lakh in Indian grey market and Rs.19 crore in international market was seized from the car. Two persons present in the car were also arrested. On interrogating these two persons, it was revealed that the drug was bought from Pharma factory in Jeedimetla and was sold by security-in charge of that factory, who was absconding since then.

Based on this in formation the officials raided the factory premises and seized a huge quantity of 5,595 kgs of various controlled drugs which are worth Rs.39.35 crore in Indian market and Rs.983 crore in international market.

Two other persons who were found to smuggle these drugs to Malaysia were arrested at Hyderabad airport. All these four accused were booked under NDPS Act.
