The authorities will very soon strictly implement the online booking system for LPG cylinders. Consumers will have to book for a new refill cylinder through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), introduced by oil companies in February.

Consumers who cross the six-cylinder quota, the online system will inform the consumer that their quota has been finished for the respective year.

Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are the only three oil companies that are following the IVRS system. The consumers will have to inform the agency, if his or her mobile number changes.

Once the consumer types the phone number of the dealer concerned, the gas connection and other details, he will get a confirmation SMS on his mobile with the booking status and number by the oil company. Consumers will get their refills, only if the booking is done through IVRS.

According to sources, consumers who are using a gas connection which is not in their name and is in the name of others, than he is supposed to get authorisation from the original owner to get the connection regularised.
