State Government Decides not to Permit New Private Engineering Colleges

A decision has come from the state government and the AICTE, that here after they will not be permitting new engineering colleges in the private sector. The decision has been made, because many colleges are shutting down due to zero admissions.

The government will set up engineering colleges in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Adilabad and Mahbubnagar districts.

In the year 2004-05, there were 238 engineering colleges and presently there are 716 engineering colleges, a growth of about 300%. The number of engineering colleges are growing, but the number of engineering students is not on such a rising trend.

The state government will also decide on the number of seats in MCA, MBA and BE/B.Tech courses. The decision has come from the state government because of the large number of vacant seats in technical institutions and fall in their academic standards.
