Shops in the State to be Closed on Sundays

The labour department, in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act 1988, has decided to implement a strict closure of all shops on Sundays. It is mandatory that every shop should be closed and holiday should be given for all employees on Sundays.

The department is sending teams on Sundays to check if shop owners are following the norms, if any of the shop violates the rule and is opened on Sunday, it will be shut down and penalised.

Till now, the labour department has booked 93 cases against shops and establishments who have kept their shops opened on Sundays in areas like Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.
