The ministry of external affairs will be introducing the ‘ghost images’ of passport holders in all the new identity cards that will be issued in May. This step is taken to stop the menace of creating fake passports or tampering with passports.

The passport will have the original photograph of the applicant and the second picture will be a ghost image. The ghost image will consist of personal information of the applicant such as name, address, date of birth and passport registration number in a very tiny font and details can only be read with the help of magnifying glass.
