The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) civil services Mains examination which was initially scheduled to be conducted on November 5, has been postponed to December 1.

The reason behind the postponement of examinations could be the change in the syllabus for the Main examination. Students will get sufficient time to prepare for the changed pattern of the examination.

Earlier, the examination period was of 20 days, from this year it will last only for 5 days. The number of optional papers has also reduced. The current system has a single optional subject as against the earlier two subjects. Apart from 2 optional papers, the main examination has 7 other compulsory subjects.
