Poor Show by Andhra Companies – Not Even One Superbrand From Andhra Pradesh This Time Also

Poor show put up by the Andhra companies again. Three years of waiting and hopes are all gone in vain. It looks like our companies haven’t learnt any lessons from past three years. Superbrands have released fourth edition of “consumer superbrands in India” in December 2012, and this time also there is not even one company from Andhra Pradesh in the list of 86 brands. We talked about this last time here.

Superbrands have released four editions of consumer superbrands and three editions of business superbrands since 2004 and no Andhra company could make it to the list atleast once in all the seven editions, while neighbouring state, Maharashtra is leading in the country with highest number of brands.

“Consumer Superbrands in India” by Superbrands
Superbrands is a UK based organization that gives tag as a “superbrand”(which is considered as a symbol of exceptional achievement and credibility) to the companies based on the consumers feedback and a panel of judges. This is the fourth edition of consumer superbrands, that was released in December 2012. There are 86 brands in total. Of them, 16 are foreign brands and 70 are indian brands with no companies from Andhra pradesh.

There are 70 brands from 11 states, and Maharashtra stands on top with 38 consumer superbrands followed by Haryana and New Delhi with 9 and 8 respectively.


  • Maharashtra – 38 (Tata salt, Tata tiscon, Everest, Ezee, Godrej, HDFC, Hit, HP Gas, Cello, etc.)
  • Haryana – 9 (BILT, Jaquar, Usha, VLCC, Wills Lifestyle, Hindware, ITC Hotels, etc)
  • New Delhi – 8 (Archies, Indane, Odonil, Uflex, Luminous, JK Tyres, Kajaria, KEI)
  • Tamilnadu – 4 (Apollo Hospitals, Blue Dart, Prestige, Parrys)
  • Kerala – 2 (Kerala Tourism, Moods)
  • Punjab – 2 (Monte Carlo, Kohinoor)
  • Uttar Pradesh – 2 (Dainik Jagran, Luxor)
  • West Bengal – 2 (Boroline, Kitply)
  • Gujarat – 1 (Sintex)
  • Karnataka – 1 (Kurl-on)
  • Madhya Pradesh – 1 (Dainik Bhaskar)

16 foreign brands are there that are adored by Indians like Rooh Afza, Euroclean, Tupperware, Amadeus, Saridon, Thomas Cook, Citibank, Hot Wheels, etc.


“Business Superbrands in India” by Superbrands
Superbrands organization has also released third edition of business superbrands in July 2011. The list consists of 50 brands out of which 7 are foreign brands and 43 are Indian brands.

9 Indian states constituted 43 brands with Maharashtra alone acounted for 24 brands.

  • New Delhi – 6 (Indian Oil, Kajaria, KEI, Maruti Suzuki,Uflex, Jindal Steel and Power)
  • Haryana – 3 (BILT, JAQUAR, CAIRN)
  • Uttar Pradesh – 2 (HCL infosystems, Jagran)
  • Tamilnadu – 2 (Apollo Hospitals, Blue Dart)
  • Karnataka – 2 (Infosys, Mindtree)
  • Gujarat – 2 (NIRMA, ADANI)
  • West Bengal – 1 (HSIL)
  • Madhya Pradesh – 1 (Dainik Bhaskar)

The 7 foreign brands that made to the favourite brands for Indians are HSBC, DHL, Goodyear, Symantec, Tetra Pak, Amadeus and Philips.

While our neighbouring states like Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and even foreign brands are getting recognized by the consumers in India. Andhra companies are not making any impact on the Indians. Wake up Andhra companies…
