The central government has made it clear that there will be no extension of the August 31 deadline for linking Aadhaar card to LPG subsidy in the 5 districts (Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Chittoor, Anantapur and East Godavari) of the AP where the direct benefit cash transfer for LPG (DBCL) is being applied.

Since the Aadhaar card has been announced in December, the deadline has been extended many a times. Still many LPG customers did not enroll their Aadhaar cards.

According to the officials, the linkage of Aadhaar card with gas agencies in 5 districts is 63% and the linkage with banks is only 40%. To avail the subsidy under DBCL, the linkage of Aadhaar card with banks and gas agencies is important.
