The central discom is facing acute power shortage over the past few days. Therefore, the city is likely to face power-cuts for longer soon. The amount of power required is 5,200 MW while only 4,500 MW is available for the company, therefore the scheduled power-cuts.

With temperatures rising, the increased use of air conditioners and agricultural pump sets has led to high power consumption. This situation will continue up to the close of April.

Scheduled power-cults of three hours a day are already in force. Now with increased power-cults the total number of hours of power-cuts could go up to four hours a day.
