In Hyderabad many women haven’t voted and this could be one of the reasons for the city for recording the lowest polling percentage among all districts in Telangana.

It is recorded that, the assembly constituencies that come under Greater Hyderabad has seen less than 50% of women voting, while in the state capital more than 50% polling was registered.

Polling per cent of women recorded in the Assembly constituencies under GHMC limits are: Serlingampally with 47.47 per cent, LB Nagar 47.70 per cent, Uppal 49.71 per cent, Qutbullapur 49.11 per cent, Patancheru 67.38 per cent, Secunderabad 56.13 per cent, Malakpet 45.19 per cent, Nampally 48.2 per cent, Yakutpura 49.83 per cent, Secunderabad Cantonmernt 49.19 per cent and Jubilee Hills with 49.97 per cent.

According to the officials, the reasons for the low turnout among women could be the summer heat, lack of interest, officials failing to distribute voter slips to voters, long distance of polling booths and women having left for a vacation to their native places.
