The changing lifestyle of younger generation, middle and upper middle class people of Hyderabad and their increased focus on value proposition rather than just price has boosted the growth of the mall culture in our city. The growth of the malls in Hyderabad is owed to their service and appeal. Moreover, they have something to offer for everyone in the family.
For many families today, leisure time is limited and a visit to the mall can do a lot more than just boring shopping. Malls provide good shopping experiences with bargains, discounts, gaming and other amusement facilities for kids, food courts and restaurants, and even multiplex theatres.
Areas like Banajara Hills, Jubilee Hills and Nagarjuna Circle have recently transformed into the prime mall markets. Many malls like Citi Centre mall, Lumbini Mall, Hyderabad central, GVK One mall etc. are located here due to good connectivity to the premium residential developments at suburban localities like Madhapur and Gachibowli.
But these malls like are very far away and have no proper transportation for the people living in the heart of the city. A large portion of the middle class people live in the central Hyderabad. Many areas like Basheerbagh, Abids, Nampalli, Himayat Nagar etc. have a good concentration of educated middle class people. So what’s more important is to have malls in these areas.
Abids is located at the center of the city has a good parking place and is connected to all parts of the city with public transportation. It is one of the prime locations for businesses. However, it has lost the charm in the past few years with many of the businesses moving out to the fancy suburban areas.
However, it has MPM mall at GPO and a new major mall including a 3-star hotel, 3-multiplex screens is being developed here. The new Prajay Celebrity mall is located exactly where Surya Theatre once stood at busy Tilak road. Malls like these will serve more people and we hope they restore the glory of the area.
