Unauthorized Buildings to Face Only 25 percent Penalty

In order to track and reduce the trend of illegal constructions in the city, the penalty on property tax from the unauthorized and illegal buildings was earlier proposed to be 200 percent. However, it was again changed to 25 percent by the GHMC Standing Committee. Therefore, any builders who are prompt to construct the buildings deviating the common building rules of GO 86 will now be facing 25 percent penalty on property tax. It was also proposed by the committee that the five percent surcharge on the property tax which had been proposed earlier is to be levied only in the suburban colonies where civil infrastructure works are being planned under the Total Infrastructure Provision (TIP).
