APIIC Proposes Transparency in Land Allotments

Land allotment process is to be made transparent by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. This allows online applications to set up industries. As per the proposal, any entrepreneur can upload the application from the APIIC’s website www.apiic.in for a plot in any industrial park in the 15 APIIC zones in AP. This enables easy access to anyone. The type of industry, proposed investment, project report, and employment potential and so on can be mentioned in the application.

It is said that the main aim is to make the corporation a transparent institution and encourage genuine entrepreneurs. So far, 4,000 acres of land is given to 562 units had been resumed by the corporation as there was no implementation of projects. Around 2,123 units were sent notices with a failure to set up industrial units.

In 2010-11, the corporation allotted 4,830 acres of plot or land to 681 units. It included a projected investment of Rs. 19,755 crore having a potential to employ 72,691 people. The revenue of the corporation experienced a growth from Rs. 550 crore in the previous year to Rs. 606 crore during 2010-11. The export size of SEZs which are under the purview of APIIC during 2010-11 was Rs. 1,879 crore and around 16,119 people were employed. Among them, the corporation developed 17 SEZs, four as joint ventures and 23 by private entities entitled by the corporation.
