The Draft Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Plan created by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been notified for placing objections and suggestions by public from July 22 to September 21. It includes the area of Outer ring road growth corridor (330 sq. km.), parts outside ORR which previously belonged to HUDA (432 sq. km.), area belonged previously to Hyderabad Airport Development Authority (185 sq. km.) and extended area of HMDA (5,018 sq. km.). On the whole, the plan covers an area of 5,965 sq. km. The draft covers 35 mandals in the Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Medak and Mahabubnagar.
The plan is drafted keeping in view the metropolitan development needs till 2031. It is planned taking in to consideration a population of 184 lakhs, work force population of 65 lakhs, present and future trends of development, ORR, radial roads and travel needs and proposed urban nodes and centers.
The draft can be inspected at the HMDA office at Tarnaka and its zonal offices at Shankarpally, Shamshabad, Ghatkesar, Medchal and Sangareddy municipal office. It is also made available on the HMDA website “www.hmda.gov.in”. In addition to the above measures, the public can also get a soft copy in 1:1,00,000 scale and other relevant reports by paying Rs.100 at all the above said offices. The HMDA authorities have said that the final draft will be forwarded to government only after considering all the objections and suggestions.
Additionally, the extended area of Hyderabad Metropolitan Region includes GHMC, Sangareddy and Bhongir Municipalities and 849 Revenue villages. It will now cover, Bhongir on the east along the NH-202, Yacharam on south along the Nagarjun Sagar State Highway, Chevella and Aloor along the Vikarabad State Highway, Sangareddy on west along the NH-9, Toopran on North along the NH-7, Chotuppal on south-east along the NH-9, Kandukur along the Srisailam state Highway and Shadnagar on South-west along the NH-7.
