GHMC Claiming Tax for Properties Lost in Road Widening

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was found to send property tax notices even for properties which have been lost in the road-widening projects. The corporation took many properties for widening the inner ring road between Tarnaka and Uppal. The property owners even had received compensation. Still, the municipal body has been sending notices to pay property taxes for the axed structures. Similar is the case at the Lakdi-ka-pul to Khairatabad stretch.

The corporation failed to erase the details of such properties from the property tax database. The tax details of the properties which were taken under acquisition by the town planning wing have to be revised by the tax wing. However, the lack of coordination between the different wings of the GHMC had raised these problems. The property owners who faced these issues are suggested to contact the corporation and get the property details updated.
