Notices are supposed to be sent by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to owners of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) house beneficiaries who have not yet occupied the houses. There are about 45,000 houses provided with civic infrastructure like internal roads, water, power supply and sewer lines in various areas of the twin cities. Of the 35,000 beneficiaries who received the keys, only 20,000 occupied them. Though the ownership change is not allowed for seven years as per the rules, many of them have been selling the houses. The illegal structures where the beneficiaries have been staying are also proposed to be demolished by the corporation to enable them occupy the allotted new premises.
