In a move to find illegal constructions in the city, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had inspected about 198 buildings, among which only four were found to be legal. About 123 buildings were found to include deviations from building rules. The other 71 structures included unauthorized constructions which were built without permission from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). ACB had to actually probe 30,000 illegal constructions in the city, however, it checked only 198 with only two months of time to submit the report.
This showed the role of the GHMC in rising illegal structures in the city. No strict action was taken by the officials of the corporation to demolish the illegal buildings. Even after issuing the notices, they failed to act properly, which has become advantageous for the builders to continue illegal constructions.
