GHMC has proposed to give tax incentives for the buildings which adopted eco-friendly techniques, based on their green rating.
It has said that the buildings using solar water heater equipment would get a 10% concession of property tax and the ones which have water harvesting infrastructure will have an additional 10% concession on property tax.
Also, GHMC is planning to develop bicycle corridors so as to encourage the usage of cycles. It also has plans to improve the public transportation system. It has plans to create a 100-km long bicycle corridor in the city in the next couple of years and it has also proposed to have bicycle stations in the selected MMTS and Metro rail stations.
Among the other green initiatives proposed by GHMC are – CNG based public transportation, construction of eco-friendly commercial and office buildings and extensive use of solar energy.
