As announced in the month of May’12, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to pull out all the property tax defaulters and owners of unassessed properties using the Geographical Information System (GIS).
GHMC recruited two agencies for identifying all such properties. According to the sources, these agencies will start their work from the fourth week of June’12. They are planning to start this as a pilot project and their first survey starts with two dockets, each having 3,000-4,000 properties, one in Serilingampally and another in Kapra municipal circle.
The agencies recruited for this drive use Google maps or any other satellite images to find out the nature and usage of the building, type of construction, etc. Later they will check whether or not the property is under tax net. If it already exists they will correlate the collected details with the records of the municipal corporation.
The officials of GHMC told that the pilot exercise will be completed in a month and if the results are good they will use it for the other areas of the city.
