The state government has constituted a new body to handle the responsibilities of protecting government lands, especially the tank bed lands. The newly formed body named Andhra Pradesh Land Management Authority (APLMA) is now responsible to protect all the govt. owned lands along with the lakes in GHMC areas.

A new order from the government has been released fixing the powers and responsibilities of the APLMA. It was also mentioned in the GO about ban on change of classification of tank bed land and on its allotment. According to the sources, the authority will protect the govt. lands by either fencing or by erecting a compound wall around them to ensure legal protection of all the areas under litigation. There are also plans by APLMA to establish an online Land Bank which provides all the information regarding the govt. owned lands and allotment of lands to the public and private organisations along with accurate survey maps.
