The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed to reduce the vacant land tax (VLT). The tax value which was 0.5% of the registration value as per the GHMC Act is now proposed to be reduced to 0.25%. Still, the Act should be amended by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD). This proposal has been made because the collection of VLT was not crossing Rs. 1 crore.
