HMDA To Impose Strict Action Against Damage Of Heritage Zones Of Hyderabad

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) announced 152 heritage buildings in twin cities. It also warned that it will take both civil and criminal actions against persons who spoil the structures.

Heritage Conservation Committee (HCC) requested the the GHMC officials to relieve heritage buildings from property tax study. It will allow the owners of the heritage buildings to to take care of them properly.

About 70 heritage structures out of 152 are under the control of private persons. Although these buildings are their ancestral properties, owners will have no rights to make any alterations and restoration without the permission of the HMDA and the HCC that will supervise the maintenance of the buildings to protect the rich heritage and culture of Hyderabad.

The HMDA officials also established the nameplates at Greenlands buildings at Begumpet and Sardar Mahal in old city. Areas such as Laad Bazaar, Patthar Gatti and the Golconda Fort to Charminar Road have been recognized as heritage zones. It has been recommended to designate heritage zones and avenues in places which exhibit historicity and architectural values too.
