Hyderabad is one of the oldest historical cities with many attractive places as tourist destinations for the visitors. The enchanting landmarks, delicious cuisine, delightful shopping, the rich mixed culture and historical traditions clearly distinguish Hyderabad from other cities. Added to it, this beautiful and bustling city has emerged as the tech hub for many start-ups and major global IT companies. Hence, it surely is one of the most visited places in South India and travelers from all corners of the world come to this place for a memorable holiday. Whether planning for a fun trip or visiting the place for business purpose, there are certain things that tourists need to be aware of to make their stay at Hyderabad pleasant and fun filled.

Weather & clothing:
The city has fairly warm climate throughout the year except in winters because of which many tourists plan to visit this place during pleasant winter times. January is the coldest month whereas May & June have higher temperatures when compared to other months. Again the temperature goes down once it starts raining in the mid June till the end of October. Those who are traveling should be aware of these weather conditions and plan the trip accordingly; otherwise they may face inconvenience in going around the city. People really need to carry some light clothing in summers preferably cottons, to beat the excess temperatures while going out.

Airport location:
Hyderabad has only one airport – Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) for both domestic and international service, located in Shamshabad area. It is approximately 24 kms distance from the city center and people traveling from central areas may take Mehdipatnam flyover rather than local roads to reach airport faster. However, those who are trying to reach airport from other places like Hi-tech city, Uppal etc may travel through Nehru Outer Ring Road for undisturbed traffic. People who prefer public transport with minimal charges may take airport shuttle service Pushpak buses of TSRTC, at the Secunderabad bus complex or at the specified bus stops. Well, reaching the airport from your place is not a big thing once you have planned the hotel to stay in the Hyderabad city.

Hotels to stay:
There are hundreds of luxury hotels in the city limits and outskirts that can provide comfortable accommodation and cater to the needs of both leisure and business travelers. Based on the budget limit, the comfort level will vary, but overall the prices will be moderate when compared to other metropolitan cities. Those who plan the trip ahead may also find some good deals at the discounted prices. So basically it is your choice to decide whether to stay near the airport or to the tourist destinations for easy commute.

Train or Bus station:
Hyderabad has various junction railway stations at Secunderabad, Kachiguda, Nampally, Malakpet etc all within the reachable distance from the heart of the city. Those who are traveling from other places may get down at any one of these stations and go around the city conveniently taking a cab or public transport. The city also has the convenience of local MMTS trains, covering 27 local stations, connecting various areas around the city. Bus stations are also not too far from the city, as one is located in the south in the Hyderabad city area, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station – MGBS (earlier called as Imlibun) and the other in the Secunderabad area, Jubilee Bus Station – JBS. Once you are in Hyderabad, it is easy to move around the places as there are plenty of city bus services connecting different tourist spots like Golconda, Charminar, Salar Jung Museum, Nehru Zoological Park, Tank Bund etc.

Traffic:
As a tourist you may be least concerned about the traffic, but at the same time each minute is valuable when you are in vacation or on a business trip. You do not want to waste your valuable vacation day sitting at the traffic junctions waiting for the vehicles to clear. Traffic congestion is a common issue in Hyderabad and Secunderabad areas, so it is better to avoid local and city roads and take highways, ring road or express ways to reach your destination place. Even though you are traveling few kms more through these highways than the local roads, there will be half an hour to one hour difference in the reaching time. Ring road and expressways are faster and safer routes than the congested local paths.
