Reports Say Hyderabad Airport Best in India

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), which began its commercial flight operations from March 2008, has been rated as the one of the best airports in the world by some recent surveys.

According to a recent survey by Skytrax, a Britain-based consultancy which judges the quality of air travel, Hyderabad airport is the best airport in India. Singapore’s Changi airport was named as the world’s best airport by the survey report. Seoul’s Incheon International Airport stood in the second position.

The awards were based on the opinions of more than 8.6 million passengers from over 95 countries across the world. 196 airports around the world were surveyed. 35 elements of the airport experience were assessed before finalizing the awards.

RGIA ranked 5th best in the world
In another report by the Airport Council International, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been rated the world’s best airport in the category of airports handling 5 to 15 million passengers. The Hyderabad airport handles about 6.4 million passengers per year. It was also voted as the fifth best airport in the world by the report.

RGIA was also awarded Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Rating for its eco-friendly design. It is the first airport in Asia and second in the world to get this award.
