The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority wanted to take a Comprehensive Transportation Study to develop a long term transport strategy in Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) spread over 7,146 sq.kms. A long term transport strategy can be developed by the help of CTS with suitable medium and short-term plans. It should understand the present changed demands and characteristics of transportation and it has to forecast the future demands of the transportation. The national and international consultants are invited by the authority for CTS and its estimated cost is Rs.15 crore and from that central government want to assist 50 percent.

Serious traffic and transportation problems had been led by rapid urbanization in the HMR and for this it needed a solution, said MDA officials. It has taken different urban transport projects in the recent past like Hyderabad Metro Rail, Outer Ring Road (ORR), Radial Roads, PVNR Elevated Expressway and inner Ring Road besides preparation of a comprehensive Land Use Master Plan to control.

The consultants who will take up the this project should have minimum 10 years experience in planning, designing and implementation of the transportation system for cities. June 30th is the last date to submit consultants interests in this transportation plan.
