Extending a helping hand to seniors, GHMC started Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association office premises and Aasara day care centre at Kodandaram Nagar, Dilshukhnagar. A separate counter for senior citizens is to be opened at Citizen Service Centre.

The new centre will have day care material such as play equipment, 20 chairs, water dispenser and library books. GHMC is said to be the only urban authority taking care of the welfare of seniors.

GHMC allotted Rs. 6 crore for the project, and has formed 176 associations and opened 79 day care centres that are functional already, with provision of amenities like cycling, carom boards, for relaxation, exercising facilities, physiotherapy, etc.
