The state government had taken the decision to give of 25 percent weightage to marks obtained in the Intermediate examinations in EAMCET exam. This decision was taken so that students take Intermediate course seriously and lecturers also work better.

But the government does not seems to be serious and has gone on backfoot on its policy decision to increase weightage for intermediate marks in Eamcet in a phase wise manner.

It is being said that private junior colleges and engineering colleges in the state are pressurizing the government to hold back from increasing the weightage in Eamcet exam.

The government has so far ignored to give orders on increasing the weightage. Presently, 25 per cent weightage is being given for inter marks in Eamcet that was introduced in 2008-09 academic year. The same is continued in the present academic year 2009-10.

As per the original plan, the weightage for inter marks was to be increased by 25 per cent every year and thereby subsequently abolishing Eamcet in four years.
