The state government has decided not to conduct the National Common Entrance Test and instead to go for Eamcet in 2013. This is because of the difficulties faced by the Telugu medium applicants, which might lead to poor results. Sources say that the state may agree to take part in ISEET at a later stage once the initial doubts are cleared.

Henceforth, a single entrance test will be held for IITs, IIITs, NITs and other central government institutions and deemed universities. The proposed ISEET would replace the current IIT-JEE, AIEEE and other entrance examinations.

Other states have also deferred the decision to conduct ISEET and chose to wait and watch. The Union government has left the states to their own discretion in this regard.
