As per government orders, non resident Indian (NRI) quota in engineering colleges is to be set at 5%, reducing from the current 15%. The order would come in to effect after the declaration of EAMCET results.

The move has been taken because of the increasing complaints regarding the misuse of the provisions of NRI quota that certain college managements allegedly sold seats to fake NRI candidates. According to the new rules, NRI candidates whose parents live abroad would only be considered. They will not be allowed for any NRI sponsorship.
