Statues at Tank Bund Unveiled

Finally the 12 new statues of Telugu icons on Tank Bund were unveiled on April 11, on the auspicious day of Ugadi. The unveiled statues are those of Yerra Pragada, Annamayya, Sri Krishnadevaraya, Siddhendra Yogi, Brahma Naidu, Kandukuri Veeresalingam, Raghupathi Venkataratnam Naidu, Mutnuri Krishna Rao, Tripuraneni Ramaswamy Chaudary, Bellary Raghava, Sir Arthur Cotton and Gurajada Apparao

These statues were badly damaged by protesters during the Millennium March on the Tank Bund on March 10, 2011. Though these statues were installed long back, it was waiting to unveil. For long these statues were covered in cloth and paper.

The state government did not take an initiative for the inauguration of the statues, it kept on delaying for the last seven to eight months.

But the wait is over, the statues are reinstalled and its a really good sight to see these statues back in their places. These statues at Tank Bund add glory and beautification to the city.
