26,400 Voters Use NOTA Option in Hyderabad

At the recent general election, 26,400 voters in the Hyderabad district have rejected all the candidates by pressing the ‘None of The Above Option’ (NOTA) on the EVMs (electronic voting machines)

The number of voters eligible for voting in the Hyderabad district are about 39 lakh and the total percentage of voter turnout was about 54. The 26,400 voters who have used the NOTA option constitute around 0.75% of the total votes polled in the 15 Assembly and 2 Lok Sabha constituencies of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

notaIn the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency, 6,437 voters used the NOTA option, while in the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency 5,013 voters have used this option.

Whereas in 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district, number of voters who pressed the NOTA button are: Secunderabad Cantonment (1,834), Khairatabad (1,482), Bahadarpura (1,242), Musheerabad (1,101), Goshamahal (1,076), Sanatnagar (1,041), Jubilee Hills (1,037), Secunderabad (976), Charminar (958), Yakuthpura (910), Malakpet (856), Nampally (855), Karwan (587), Amberpet (583) and Chandrayangutta (502).

The Election Commission has introduced the NOTA option for the first time in the state so that voters who do not want to vote for any of the candidates can use this option.
