Understanding Hyderabad City: Differences Between MCH, GHMC, HUDA, and HMDA

Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh is spread across an area of 625 sq.kms. The civic administration and infrastructure development in the city is being taken care by the municipal authority of the city – GHMC (erstwhile MCH). They are called as local revenue authorities.
The scope for expansion and further development in the city outskirts gave rise to several town planning agencies which are formed individually and later were merged to form a single authority called HMDA (erstwhile HUDA).

However, the existence of so many small and special development authorities like CDA, HADA, BPPA, etc., created confusion among the citizens about what is what. We simplified this topic in this table to give clarity on this subject.
