Property owners in Hyderabad soon can calculate their property tax sitting at the comfort of their homes, through Internet. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to come up with new software on its website which enables property owners to calculate their property tax.
According to the sources, if the users can provide the basic details of their properties and locations in the city, the automated software will calculate the tax based on different parameters like the built-up area and locality and provides the user with total amount of tax payable. The civic body will soon provide the link on its website www.ghmc.gov.in.
The officials also mentioned that once the owners upload the information, they will visit the house or apartment and measure the built-up area on the ground and make corrections if the information given by the owner on website is not appropriate in terms of the plinth area.
Once the measurements are done, tax men will visit the place and give tax assessments to the property owners. This facility also allows the existing properties to get the tax revised on their properties by uploading the correct details of the plinth area.
The officials are expecting that this new system will reduce the burden for the property owners as they can avoid running around the municipal offices for assessment of property tax and for inclusion of their properties in the tax data of the corporation.
