A Living Ancient Spiritual Legacy in Hyderabad for 350 years
As a beautiful haven of spirituality located in the bustling world of Hyderabad, Shri Sadguru Samarth Narayana Ashram in Jiyaguda is an undying legacy to spirituality. This Ashram has a long history of service, discipline, and devotion that dates back to almost 350 years of tradition based on Ramadasi Parampara established by Samartha Ramdas Swami.
Founded in the 17th century under the spiritual guidance of Samartha Ramadasa Swami and the guru of the great warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This spiritual institution is still in thriving operation as a lively centre of Hindu dharma on the banks of the river Musi (previously called Muchukunda nadhi). The spiritual and social impact of the Ashram was further enhanced in the 20th century under the guidance of Shri Sadguru Narayana Maharaj, fostering the timeless Guru-Shishya tradition of the country and continuing to pass it to future generations.
The Ashram has nearly 2 acres allotted for various Devalayas, one of which has a traditional Vedic Yajnashala, at which sacred rituals and yajnas are performed to maintain the ancient Vedic practices. A big statue of Bhagavan Sri Ram with his family and Hanumanji welcomes the visitors coming to the Ashram with a towering Dwaja Stambh that is 108 feet in height that can be witnessed from a long distance.
Facilities Designed for Spiritual and Community Life:
The Ashram is carefully constructed in alignment to assist both the spiritual undertakings and the community participation. At the Ashram, the devotees can easily access:
- Seva Through Cow Protection:
Among the best charity projects by the Ashram is Shri Samarth Kamadhenu Gowshala, a cow rescue and care centre related to the Ashram. Gauseva is also practiced by devotees and volunteers who are interested in protecting and maintaining cows, which are worshipped by the Vedic tradition as Kamadhenu, the goddess of nurturing.
- Traditional Vyayaamshala (Gym):
A key aspect of Ramdasi Sampradaya is focus on physical strength along with deep bhakti. A robust body constitutes a robust mind; thus, the Narayan Ashram has a traditional physical training area that enhances discipline, wellness, and harmony. - Convenient Visitor Infrastructure:
Decent parking facilities and a well-thought-out campus design make the Ashram easy to reach and friendly to the family and devotees visiting, as well as visitors coming in vehicles. - Daily Spiritual Rhythm:
The Ashram breathes the rhythm of life with devotion through regular events like bhajans and aarti, uplifting the spiritual energy every day. Devotees who come to attend these rituals feel united in their shared worship with a sense of peace and tranquility which is rare to find anywhere else. The Ashram provides free prasadam to the visitors to enhance the sense of community and gratitude. - Cultural and Function Hall:
One of the unique aspects of the Ashram is its halls, which act as hosting stands for religious gatherings, culture, spiritual meetings, and communal festivals. The huge image of Samarth Narayana Swamiji in the hall enhances the spiritual effect.
The Gowshala takes care of thousands of rescued and old cows and feeds them, gives shelter, and treats them. One of the constant needs of the gowshala is the requirement of grass, of which it needs almost 150 tonnes every day. This task is facilitated with the help of devotees and financial contributions from magnanimous individuals.
- Centre of Culture, Values, and Community
The Ashram is based on the Ramdasi Sampradaya tradition established by Samarth Ramdas Swami that advocates an approach to life consisting of devotion, physical strength, discipline, and service. Hindu families go as a group to partake in festivals and engage in prayers, and the young people get inspired by various cultural activities and spiritual teachings. The senior followers relax in a calm atmosphere, and the seekers get to know better the spiritual heritage of India. The Gowshala which takes most of the Ashram premises is the highlight of this scared place. - Rare Spiritual Experience in the Heart of the City
Shri Sadguru Samarth Narayana Ashram is not only a religious place, but also the representative of the eternal Guru-Shishyaparampara of India. The spiritual philosophy that was used to lead the rulers, such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and revive Hinduism has been reverberating in the teachings and practices of the Ashram even today. It is a special place where, in the midst of the fast-paced city life of Hyderabad, one gets a chance to stop, reflect, and reconnect with deeper values.
