Common Test for Various Posts in Nationalized Banks

17 May 2011: Indian Banks Association has announced that Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) from June 1, will conduct a common test for selection in to clerical and entry level officer cadre and specialist officers for various Nationalized Banks. This test will help to shortlist the candidates initially. This exam will be conducted twice a year by IBPS. The IBPS will issue notification to conduct the common test and will also provide pre-recruitment training for SC and ST candidates. This test has already got approval form Govt. of India. The main purpose for conducting this test is to avoid candidates appearing for multiple tests.

Banks participating in this common entrance examination are Allahabad Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Andhra Bank, Canara bank, Bank of Baroda, Central Bank of India, Bank of India, Corporation Bank, India Bank, dena Bank, Punjab National Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Syndicate Bank, Oriental Bank of commerce, United Bank of India, Punjab and Sind Bank, Union Bank of India, Vijaya Bank and UCO Bank.

The candidates who have appeared for the exam will be given a score card which will be valid for 1 year from the date of issue. The candidates with valid score cards issued by IBPS can apply for various banks, after which they will be called by the banks for recruiting into various cadres. The scorecard will mention eligibility criteria, age, educational qualifications and minimum marks obtained in the exam.
