Time limit for The Railways Tatkal tickets has been reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours. The move is said to stem the misuse of the scheme. There have been quite a few number of complaints against the Tatkal scheme. Passengers wishing to book Tatkal tickets online are unable access the IRCTC website. Agents tend to sell the tickets in the black market.
The Tatkal scheme is an important revenue earner to the government. The revenue earned form the scheme is on the increase. However, the services rendered under the scheme are not satisfactory. To prevent misuse of the scheme, agents are going to be barred for two hours, 08.00 a.m. to 10. 00 a.m.
