21 Jun 11: Indian brands, Infosys and Tata have outperformed many global companies, like Google, Nokia and Facebook and have emerged as the top 2 popular brands in India. This news was based on the survey conducted by TLG, known as TLG index of emerging market ‘Thought Leaders’, wherein editors of newspapers and directors of blue chip companies were asked to give their opinion on what corporate brands they consider are ‘Thought Leaders’, which companies have the power to change the attitudes and behavior of consumers, employees and politicians.
The top 20 firms were totally dominated by Indian companies. The top 10 companies listed two joint ventures, Maruti – Suzuki (4th) and Hindustan Unilever (9th).
The top global firms, Google, Nokia and Facebook, were ranked three, sixth and eight respectively. Surprisingly, Apple which is the leading brand in Britain and America failed to get placed in top 20 brands. It was because the business model did not match the local tastes and budgets.
