Any one planning to buy a three wheeler or four wheeler after April 15th should produce their Permanent Account Number (PAN) card that is issued by the income-tax department. The transport department has ordered automobile dealers not to register vehicles, if customers do not produce PAN cards.

The transport commissioner, Mr Raymond Peter said that only two-wheelers were not included in the rule as they usually cost less than Rs 50,000.

Mr Peter explained that customers who plans to purchase vehicles on loan will not be allowed to buy three- and four-wheelers without the PAN card. He also said that CNG outlets will be soon launched in 12 places and Shameerpet, Secunderabad Cantonment and Kukatpally are among them.

Currently, there are just three CNG outlets in the twin cities. Bharat Stage-4 rule making CNG compulsory for autorickshaws will be enforced from October 1 instead of April 1. Vehicles with BS-4 norms are enabled for registration from October 1 in the state.

The state government has fixed a revenue target of Rs 2,780 crore exclusively for the transport department in 2010-11. As sales have increased across the state, the department is expected to reach this year’s target. The availability of the on-line payment facility will make it simple and quicker to collect revenues
