SCB Bans Plastic

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) decided to seize recycled plastic covers from June from shops and business establishments, as part of its drive against recycled plastic. SCB Chief executive officer, C Ravindra said that ban on recycled plastic would be effective from 1st June.

They started creating awareness by distributing one lakh pamphlets to shopkeepers about ban in the Secunderabad Cantonment area. Special teams would raid business establishments which contains a sanitary inspector, tax department staff and sanitary workers. .

It is said that each and every business will be visited by special teams and plastic covers are seized till June end. If shopkeepers still continue to use plastic covers after 30th June, SCB will impose a fine on them. Some shopkeepers who have plenty of plastic covers stocks approached and they requested the SCB officials to allow them to use plastic covers for another two months, but officials rejected their request. SCB’s aim is to be fist plastic-free Cantonment by August 15 in the country.
