The University of Hyderabad is going to start a new service. From the forthcoming academic year the students have to swipe their identity cards to go to the rooms in hostel.

This service will be started in the Tagore International Home. The vice chancellor of University said that it would be extended to the new 800 bed hostel for local students.

The main objective of this service is to ensure the security. Authorities can get the help from this service to monitor the students’ movements and avoid the outsiders’ entry into hostels. Not only at hostels, these swipe cards also will be introduced at the University Administrative Building to supervise the employees work.

20 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras are being installed by the university on the campus premises. They will install eight CCTV cameras at three gates of the university to monitor the movements of trespassers. They install the remaining cameras elsewhere in the campus.

They will connect all these cameras to central control room. This room is to be set up in the administrative building and it will be monitored 24 hours.
