As a part of the storm water drain widening work, the GHMC removed six encroachments on the picket nala. There are around 37 structures obstructing the free flow of water on this nala.
GHMC said that repairs of the Kukatpally nala will be done soon as they were 97 encroachments. The other areas which are under proposal for improvement in the coming days include Nagamaiahkunta and Kalasiguda along with many others. The GHMC is planning to use the funds issued from the centre under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM) for remodeling of the nalas.
Till now, 10.47 Km repairs were done out of 31.27 km stretch by spending Rs. 51.55 crore for the areas of Mukri, Kukatpally and Balkapur.
Repair works are proposed at nalas in areas like Yousufguda,Punjagutta, Erramanzil, Yellareddyguda, Banjara Hills, Picket, Indira Park, Gandhi Nagar, Dandu Mansion, Kalsiguda, and Nagamaiahkunta.
