Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s memorial will be built at Lake View Park, which was previous a pond. It is present next to the Khairatabad flyover. The memorial is likely to be completed by the second death anniversary of the former Chief Minister. The park was also inaugurated by the late Chief Minister.
At first, the committee had found a piece of land in front of Prasads, but gave up the idea as it was just four acres. Later, HMDA told the committee regarding the lake view park, which is spread over 18 acres. HMDA and Buddha Purnima Project (BPP) were involved with beautification of the area by planting nearly 9,000 verious species of plants in 2008.
HMDA commissioner said that small ponds were designed with greenery around them. Walkways will be indicative of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s ‘Pada Yatra’ and ponds will be indicative for ‘Jala Yagnam’. The committee has also formulated to use some space for building mini Indiramma Gruhalu. HMDA has obtained nearly 22 Expression Of Interest (EOI) applications to build the YSR memorial and a museum. Once, the design and concept are finalized, works will be started in June or July.
